Pastoral Counseling

Jesus said:

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

At Believers, we know that life has many transitions and difficulties that arise. We are privileged to partner with Dr. Sharon Whitmer who is specially trained to walk beside you through adversity and life challenges. Whether it be grief, depression, broken relationships, personal sin, family dysfunction, or a host of other issues, we want to support you on your journey of hope, healing, and spiritual renewal.

Christian Counseling VS Secular Counseling

Christian counseling and secular counseling both share the same desire to help people overcome their problems, find meaning and joy in life, and become healthy and well-adjusted individuals mentally and emotionally.

Christian counseling is distinct from secular counseling in that it incorporates the spiritual dimension, Biblical truths, and a seeking of God’s will in an individual’s life. By using biblical concepts in counseling, they can sometimes provide specific direction and accountability. Psalm 119:24 says, "Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors."

A good place to start for personal support!

At any time in life, individuals, couples or families can be confronted by uncertainties and life experiences which threaten to exhaust emotional and spiritual resources. By coming to counseling, YOU can learn how God's Word is applied to life situations, how to let go and forgive, as Christ has forgiven you, and how to acquire skills to make changes and to live on a more emotional and cognitive level with issues such as:

-Personal/spiritual growth

-Grief

-Women’s issues

-Childhood sexual abuse

-Relationships

-Self-esteem

-Divorce/marital Issues
